Twas The Night Before Christmas...

When all through the house, not a creature was stirring not even a ... snake !! yes that was the highlight or perhaps lowlight of the week !! a snake was spotted by the gardener next door, in OUR front garden !! the front garden that I regulary walk through bare foot in to check the post !! panic set in, Mitchell was called, Brian the snake catcher from work arrived up !! but no snake to be found. Anyway to cut a long story short, snake was spotted a few days later when Mitchell was cutting the grass, a skinny long black thing, euuuuuhhhhhh ! He slithered off into the horizon hopefully never to be seen again (but doubt that).
Since I last posted we have been busy spotting Kangaroos, no koalas yet though, hopefully over Christmas we will spot one or two. Quite funny seeing Skippy just bounce accross the road on his two legs !! Speaking of Christmas, Ruby is very excited about Santa arriving tonight ! Archie will probably be happy crawling in and out of the cardboard boxes lying around. Very little hype over here with regards to Christmas, no major queueing at the supermarket, very little late night opening with regards to any small shops, some big shops open late, but again no major fuss. No big lights, no big fluffy trees in the shops and no major big Ho ho ho s.  Maybe psychologically, the fact that its over 20 degrees, no snow and no big family get together, the excitment is just not the same. Perhaps for Australians it feels just how it should.
We go swimming at the pool regularly and Ruby is loving it. She has yet to meet some pals, but hopefully in the new year with pre schoool etc, she will find her way. I had a night out with some girlies I met since arriving and that was great !! I talked a lot ( whats new I hear you say !) but was so excited to be out, I couldn't help myself !
Weather is not looking good for Christmas day, but we will crack on with the BBQ, not sure about the swim at the beach, but will definitely crack open the vino/prosceco and raise a toast to all our absent family and friends, probably cry, laugh, then cry again !! If only we could exchange some of our heat for a little bit of your snow ( note I said a little bit).
Mitchell happy working away, but also glad to have 12 days off over Christmas, we head to Byron Bay for New Years, so we are looking forward to seeing somewhere new.
I think thats all for now, except to ask, what I think must be the most frequently asked questions every time we Skype ... What time is it there now ??
Happy Christmas to you all and love and hugs from Oz xxx
